Support Coordination

In addition to running an alpaca farm, Marian is also an experienced, independent NDIS Support Coordinator for participants with psychosocial disabilities.

Marian has worked in the community services industry since 2010, supporting people with severe and persistent mental illness(es) and complex needs through the Personal Helpers and Mentors (PHaMs) and Partners in Recovery (PIR) programs before the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Initially Marian’s role was to assist persons with a psychosocial disability to establish their eligibility to access the NDIS, submit applications and develop desired funding plans based on the participants goals and needs. She became an NDIS Support Coordinator in 2015 and has worked for several leading mental health providers in Canberra, Sydney and Newcastle.

Marian is passionate about ensuring that participants receive the funding and support they need to improve their quality of life, achieve their goals and be treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Marian is efficient and transparent with participants, providers and other stakeholders, to effectively implement NDIS plans and link participants with suitable and appropriate NDIS, mainstream and community supports. She also reviews the quality of supports, monitors expenditure and creates an effective and positive support network around participants.

In 2021, Marian opted to become an independent support coordinator to allow for a better work/life balance with the inception of Gumnut Valley Alpacas. Marian provides level 2 support coordination, as well as psychosocial recovery coaching. As a non-registered NDIS provider, Marian can only provide services to plan managed participants.

Marian prides herself on always going above and beyond for her participants to get the best possible outcomes. She has a near non-existing client turnover with limited capacity for new participants. Marian works Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8am and 4pm.
